Ulun Danu Bratan Lake Temple

Ulun Danu Bratan Temple, also known as Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, is one of Bali’s most picturesque and sacred temples, located on the shores of Lake Bratan in the highlands of Bedugul, Tabanan. Built in the 17th century, this temple is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the Balinese goddess of water, lakes, and fertility. It plays an important role in the island’s irrigation system, which sustains Bali’s rice fields and agriculture.

The temple’s most famous feature is its multi-tiered Meru shrine that appears to float on the calm waters of Lake Bratan, especially when the mist rolls in from the surrounding mountains. This serene and mystical atmosphere makes it one of Bali’s most photographed sites. The temple complex consists of several shrines and courtyards surrounded by lush gardens and stunning mountain views.

Ulun Danu Bratan is not only a spiritual site but also a symbol of harmony between humans, nature, and the divine. Visitors can enjoy walking around the temple grounds, taking boat rides on the lake, or exploring the nearby local market and botanical gardens.
